TOM HOLLAND SAYS SPIDERMAN- NO WAY HOME CONCLUDES THE SHARED MARVEL & SONY SHARED UNIVERSE
According to Tom Holland, the next Spider-Man film will be released in December, and it may be the final one for a while.
Holland tells Entertainment Weekly, "We were all treating [No Way Home] as the end of a franchise." "I believe that if we were fortunate enough to revisit these characters, you would witness a totally different version." It wouldn't be the Homecoming trilogy anymore. We'd give it some time and try to come up with something unique that would modify the tone of the flicks. I'm not sure if it will happen or not. But we were absolutely treating [No Way Home] as if it were coming to a close, and it did."
This does not, however, imply that Holland's Spider-Man is leaving the MCU. However, it appears that standalone Spider-Man initiatives will be put on hold for the time being. There's a good probability the character will be addressed later in his story, when he's no longer a juvenile hero and more of a seasoned Avenger. Spider-Man might also play a larger role in future Avengers films, or simply appear in other films.
As Iron Man's protege, Tom Holland first appeared as the webslinger in Captain America: Civil War. Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home were the first two solo films for the character. In Avengers: Infinity War, he was memorably snapped while clutching to Tony Stark and heartbreakingly crying, "Mr. Stark, I don't feel so good."
We'll find out what happens to Peter Parker and his companions on Dec. 17 when Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters.
